Jackson Brook, Maine
(August 15, 1837 to February 4, 1885)
Jackson Brook was renamed Brookton
Jackson Brook, Maine, September 8, 1845, manuscript townmark,  rated 5¢ due for distance less than 300 miles to Machias.

Jackson Brook, Maine, January 22, 1856, 3¢ dull red 1851 pays the 3¢ rate for distance under 3,000 miles to Brewer, Maine.  Addressed to the future hero of the battle of Little Round Top at Gettysburg.  Chamerlain was later promoted to General and awarded the Medal of Honor.  He also served four-terms as Governor of Maine.  Signed "Josh. Chamberlain" on the back.  As Chamberlain's father was also named Joshua, this may be docketing indicating that the letter was from his father.
