Linneus, Maine, July 30, 1832, postmaster free frank by Col. Moses Burleigh to the land agent in Bangor, Maine.  Forwarded August 4, 1832 to Thomaston, Maine.  Letter informs the land agent that New Brunswick was issuing permits to cut timber on the Aroostook.  During this period, the dispute regarding the land boundary between Maine and New Brunswick resulted in the "Aroostook War."
